In The Second Show, local artists Susan Armstrong, of Concord, and Kathleen Quigley, have been brought together in a celebration of nature and color. The works chosen for this show are vibrant and soft, a true testament to the sweet New England summer. Armstrong’s work features acrylic paintings of wildlife flora, concentrating on the Concord River and other local water bodies. Her technique involves painting “en plein air” in order to experience the outdoors firsthand, shown in her attention to detail. Quigley also embraces these themes, using a larger canvas with oils to depict rich textural qualities. She is attracted to the essence and overwhelming sense of design within nature, paying tribute to the natural world of which we are a part.
If you missed the opening, make sure to come to our next in celebration of an exhibition featuring artist Julie Vinette, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 17.
The Second Show will be up through Saturday September 12.
